OWSD Vice Presidents elected for 2021-2025

June 21, 2021

We are delighted to announce that results have come through for the four positions of Vice Presidents on the Executive Board of OWSD for the period 2021-2025. One Vice President was elected for each of the four OWSD Regions (Africa, Asia-Pacific, Arab Region and Latin America and the Caribbean).

Two of these positions had only one candidate each, and the results were uncontested. For this reason,

  • Atya Kapley is the re-elected OWSD Vice President for the Asia-Pacific Region
  • Huda Basaleem is the re-elected OWSD Vice President for the Arab Region

Elections were held for the Vice Presidents of Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean, with full, active OWSD members in those regions casting their votes among the eligible candidates in their region.

In Africa, 1,010 out of 3,073 OWSD active full members cast their vote: 10 votes were empty; 214 votes were for Ganiyat Kehinde Oloyede; and 786 for Olubukola Oluranti Babalola. For this reason,

  • Olubukola Oluranti Babalola is the re-elected OWSD Vice President for Africa.

In Latin America and the Caribbean, 550 out of 1,086 OWSD active full members cast their vote: 3 votes were empty; 81 votes were for Sumbal Saba; and 466 for Kleinsy Bonilla. For this reason,

  •  Kleinsy Bonilla is the new OWSD Vice President for Latin America and the Caribbean.

Congratulations to all four new Vice Presidents!

Elections for Regional Members of the Executive Board will open Monday, 28 June, when all active full members of the Asia-Pacific region, the Arab region, and Latin America and the Caribbean will be sent their unique voting links through the OpaVote platform*.

*Please note that only full members approved before June 11, 2021 will be eligible to vote. If you re-activated your profile after 11 June 2021 please write owsd@owsd.net. If you still have to submit your online membership application, unfortunately, you are not an OWSD Member yet (but we encourage you to finish you registration process anyway!)
