We celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science with an event held within the facilities of the Ean University, in Bogota.
We celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science on February 12, 2024, with an event held within the facilities of the Ean University, in Bogota. The event was highly successful and lasted 4 hours. We counted on the illustrious presence of the University's rector, Dr. Brigitte Baptiste, Ph.D. in Economía Ecológica y Manejo de Recursos Naturales de la Universidad de Barcelona, who participated in the panel dedicated to the importance of networks to promote the careers of scientists in women at the local, national, regional, and global levels. We also had the Minister of Science and Technology Yesenia Olaya Requene as part of the panel, together with Susan Benavides, Master in Management of Science, Technology and Innovation and Scientific Policy from the Universidad of Sevilla and Master in Research in Interdisciplinary Studies for Development from the Universidad de Los Andes. Martha Patricia Castellanos Saavedra, is an economist from the Universidad del Rosario in Colombia, a doctor in Education with a concentration in Educational Technology and Distance Education from the University of Nova Southeastern University in the United States, with a master's degree in Telecommunications Management from Strathclyde University in Scotland and specializations in Project Management from the Universidad de Los Andes and Virtual Learning Environments. Yael Mendez Chaparro: Microbiologist - Master's degree in Geology Sciences Scientific Director of the Cydonia Foundation. Also, Paula Forero, Communicator and Journalist. Content creator on Instagram and TikTok about women and peacebuilding with a feminist approach. She currently works in the Congress of the Republic as a Community Manager and advisor on gender and feminism issues, and finally Tatiana Rodríguez Ariza in representation of Cumbres Blancas Foundation. The opportunity was also used to promote the activities of our five committees and increase the relationship between our members and the leaders. The audience was mainly made up of scientists, and the academic public, and our members in the diaspora and from other cities had the opportunity to connect virtually. This occasion was used to celebrate that we are the second-largest chapter in Latin America and the Caribbean. Our membership and engagement campaign grows day by day.
