Published more than 41 high quality papers in international peer-reviewed ISI-SCOPUS journals. PhD in Remote Sensing in 2014 and M. Sc in Hydric Resources and Environmental Sanitation from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Environmental and Sanitary Engineer. iCACGP member and Association for Aerosol Studies in Latin America and the Caribbean member. Extensive research on air quality and health; and currently in the Technical Advisory Group in Global Air Pollution and Health for the World Health Organization. Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineer at Universidad del Norte in Colombia. Dedicated to delivering vibrant and compelling lectures to students specializing in environmental engineering and health, climate emissions and air quality. Academic coordinator of the master’s in environmental engineering. My research has spanned various facets of air quality and climate emissions mitigation, encompassing black carbon emissions monitoring, environmental justice, exposure to black carbon emissions, sustainable transportation, low-cost sensors, passive sampling of NO2, bioaerosols, land use regression (LUR), airborne particles modeling, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons associated with airborne particles, and the size distribution of airborne particles. My role in climate, air quality and public health has included planning and executing the highly successful Air Quality and Climate Change Congress in Colombia (https://casap.science) and nowadays, a member of the organization commission. Research projects included air quality and health using land use regression models in 5 cities in Colombia for NO2 and PM2.5 pollutants (Colombian Government-funded). Research assistant (doctoral level) in the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Worked in different projects of the research line in Atmospheric Sciences of the Remote Sensing Research Center and Meteorology jointly with the State Environmental Agency (FEPAM). The research included these themes: air quality, airborne particulate matter, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons associated with airborne particles, the size distribution of airborne particles and analysis of particulate matter in thermal infrared spectra, ozone, nitrogen oxides, temporal series analysis, receptor models. Managed a small team of mentored undergraduate students and graduate students (Msc students) during the 4 years. Presented several papers in international conferences. Researcher on the treatment of drinking water using nanofiltration membrane oxidation with potassium permanganate and desorption tower for removing compounds causing taste, odor and taste in the water. Responsible for the design, coordination, and implementation of environmental management in health institutions of various levels of complexity, within the framework of planning matters: management of waste from health care, rational use of water, education and environmental training to employees, biosafety management of hazardous waste. Conducted the design and implementation of ISO 14001 in the health centers and universities, and environmental management programs in the food industry. My career and expertise include multifaceted contributions to advancing environmental engineering, climate mitigation, air quality and environmental justice research.
